Cleaning the Kiln Room

Cloe and I decided that it would be a good idea to clean up the kiln room since nobody ever did, and there was clay all over. We decided to wash things up and clean the counters like they needed to be.

Mark Leuthold

Mark Leuthhold was the artist i chose out of Mr. Chapmans art books. He made many different sculptures including the one i decided to model mine after. Wes also made one of his objects he is most famous for making. It is a wheel. We were supposed to look at the magazines for inspiration on a famous artists work. In this case i guess it was like a horn i dont really know what the actual name is because i dont think he named it. Throughout this project i worked very hard on making it as perfect as it could be, and it turned out fine, except the glaze didn't work very well as i thought it would.

Chia Pets

Chia Pets have been made for centuries as objects of art. They were made from clay, wood, or stone. Chia Pets are hollow clay bodies, that are usually animals. They have small groves on the outside that hold seeds called Chia seeds or (Salvia Columbariae). The moistened seeds create a gel paste to the outside of the clay surface which makes the clay and the seeds bind together so the seeds will stick. The Chia Pet is owned and manufactured by Joseph Enterprises, Inc. The name Chia Pet was first used September 8, 1977. Many different people can make and sell items very similar to the Chia Pet but the name chia pet can not be used as the name of the merchandise because it is already taken by Joseph Enterprises, Inc.

Garden Art

I found this piece on google. For my Garden art i decided to make a mushroom since they are in gardens and they are very interesting to me. I saw this picture and loved the colors as soon as i saw it, they jumped out at me. Another reason why i liked this picture was because they are all different shapes and sizes and i like artwork that has a variety of everything. Me, personally, i like to make small artwork because i am small and everything i make seems like normal size to me even if it small to other people. I made my mushroom small and short. I made my mushroom blue because and black because i love those two colors. i still have to glaze it but i think it will turn out well in the end.

My Mug.

I finally finished my mug last week. And took it home i haven't used it yet. But i'm sure i will soon. When i made it i decided i did not want to make anything really big, because i am not a big person. :) I decided to do something simple on my mug because i did not want it to look really bad because to me a small mug like that would not look good with too much detail, so i made swirls on it. My friend Cloё found this sea green paint and we decidede to use it on our mugs. Then i painted the inside black. After it was done i was very happy with my mug and took it home but i haven't used it yet. :)

Ceramic Mugs.

We are making handmade mugs this upcoming week in class. On google, i've found this picture that shows how the mugs might look making them from a ceramics class. I liked this picture because there are many different kinds of mugs and they are all together and you can see how different they are and look when they are sitting all together. I think that from certain people it shows their personality, instead of mugs it's like different people standing together.
